[OBIEE 11g] - Installation on Red Hat Linux



Following list of packages should be installed before OBIEE installation
  1. binutils-2.17.50.0.6

  • Modify Limits.conf file and make a new entry into it.
  • Modify /etc/security/limits.conf as follows
obiee soft nofile 4096
obiee hard nofile 4096
Here ‘obiee’ is the username other than the ‘root’.

  • Modify Hosts file and make a entry into it.
  • Modify /etc/hosts as follows
172.17.103.124 infva05545.vshodc.lntinfotech.com infva05545

  • To install Oracle BI EE 11g, after you have downloaded the install files, and unzipped them, you need to go to “Disk 1″, and run the “runInstaller” file.

  • Open Terminal and run the “runInstaller” file.

  • This launches the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI for short).

  • Check the box to confirm Inventory Location and click OK

  • Click Next

  • Select ‘Skip Software Updates’ and Click Next.

  • Select Installation Type: Install Software Updates and Click on Enterprise Install.

Prerequisite Checks: There are some basic checks that the installer performs, like checking for the operating system version, the Service Pack, the available memory and disk space.

Create New BI System: Enter any name here – like “weblogic” or “administrator” or “admin” Enter a password, and make sure you remember it, since you will need this to log into the Console, BI EE, Enterprise Manager, and just about everywhere else.

  • Specify Installation Location like Middleware_Home

  • Configure components: Select the products on offer here which will install every thing

  • BIPLATFORM Schema: Give the Username and Password for the schema.(You can get this at the time of creation of RCU).

  • Configure Ports : If you want to change the port means then go to Specify Ports or else Click on Auto Port Configuration(Recommended).

  • Specify Security Updates : Click No if u don’t wish to receive email.

  • Summary : This will gives the Installation Details and Configure Components.

  • Click Install, now the installation process start.

  • Installation in progress

  • Once the configuration is completed successfully, you will notice the progress bar at 100%. And every configuration step shows a status of “Success”.

  • Now we can see the Answers Page which will open automatically. No need to restart the services for the first time.
